Coarse Lava Gel is ideal if you want to add more dimension and gritty sculptural elements to your artwork. This thick paste, mixed with acrylic paints and won’t lose any of the color of the original paint since the gels are clear when dry. Here are a few options to consider for your upcoming projects.
There are many ways to add texture and dimension to your artwork, but lava gel is perhaps one of the most unique. This dense acrylic gel is formulated for maximum textural effect to help you achieve a distinct look and feel no matter if you apply it in thick or thin layers.
The flexible coarse lava gel can be applied in thick layers to create a dramatic 3D without chipping or cracking on canvas. Like other texture gels, how you use lava gel is up to your preference and the look and feel you want to create.
This special effects medium can also be used on its own or mixed with color. By itself, the dried paint is gray with a dense distribution of approximately even sized grit. It can be mixed with acrylic paints to create a textured acrylic color, or you can apply acrylic paint over dried coarse lava gel to really make the texture pop.
How to use:
Apply to your non-slick/non-oily surface using a knife or tool
Apply in thin layers to avoid cracking (allow each layer to dry in between layers)
Drying time may differ depending on weather conditions and amount used.
